more inspiration

Inspiration from bold colourful type. From neatly constructed line work, and the jumble of lines which nature presents us.

A bitty bit of work, term 2.

3D and Drawing
Summary.

I have initially caried over ideas from my last project into the current. These ideas developed from the idea of radiation from telephones, and my abstract ideas of the impact this could have on the environment and society.

In this current project I began with the idea of a birds cage as my 'space'. As my ideas progressed, I decided to base my investigation around the birds nest instead.

I think the birds nest is well suited for my project, as it represents the way nature can addapt to societies changes in the environment. Birds evolve and adapt to fit in with this ever changing environment, creating nests where ever they are able. A strong example of nature adapting to society. Not only that, but the way birds create their nests from what ever resources avalibe to them.

I then questioned what the abstract possibilities would be, of an alternative world where instead of society destroying the environment... an environment which evolved and adapted to fit into society. For example, mutated flowers which grow and bloom from fast food rubbish. Or trees that grow out from the twisted sky scrapers of the city forests.

From this point I developed the idea for my final, a tree growing from society's ruin. Up and out of the rubbish and city. In this tree there is a birds nest, one made from the discarded trash of society. It shows the lack of concern people have for the environment.

In the nest is a human infant. New life which represents change, hope and opportunity. The baby is reaching out to a mutated telephone bird, a link to my previous project. This shows the connection of communiction, and opportunity which points towards the possibility of a dark and bleak future.

The baby is connected to a powercord from it's belly button, like an umbilical cord. In my drawing the other end is connected to the tree. This connection is symbolic of a babies connection to its mother, from whom it is a product of. However in this serario it is a product of society.
This is a key factor of my project, which comunicates the idea that we are all products of society.

My 3D takes a slightly different twist, in a message that states we (the people) are all responcible for these products of society. This is represented through the powercord which in this case runs between the baby and a switch on the wall.

The idea is that when one walks in to this exhibition space, it appears to be a dark empty room. They feel around for a lightswitch to get a better look at their surrounding. When they flick the switch located by the door, spotlights will be activated which reveal the baby in the tree. A moment later the fake window is lit to reveal the society/ environment behind.

The person who has just flicked the lightswitch will feel responcible for what they have revealed, they will be made to feel that they are the cause of it. Which supports my idea, that they are.
